So long as large numbers of infected trees remain in your area it is prudent to treat young hazelnut plantings of all varieties with fungicides (e.g. 'bordeaux' or other active copper) to prevent EFB. We have seen some EFB symptoms on young 'Jefferson' trees planted near blighted orchards.
